Neutron Scattering and Mathematics : How difficult an experimental physicist's life has become
Seungil Park (한국원자력연구원) /
Neutron scattering is an experimental tool employed by condensed matter physicists. In the first part, I will introduce neutron scattering and present the status of the neutron scattering facility at HANARO, the research reactor located in Daejeon. In the second part, I will show the traditional approach neutron scatterers use to 'calculate' the experimental result and how the fast-paced change in theoretical and experimental landscape challenges average experimental physicists these days. This leads to the conclusion that intuitive mathematical software would be much appreciated even by simple-minded experimental physicists.
